Your body’s pores are working hard at expelling toxins every day. One of the main ways toxins are released from the body is through sweating. A detox bath can assist the body in doing just that through a process that can be explained as being a version of osmosis. The toxins are first drawn to the surface of the skin by the hot water and are then cleansed away as the water cools. The bath also helps with the overall regulation of the body’s processes, such as the regulation of enzymes, the alleviation of pain and the enhancement of healing processes. It’s important during a detox bath to stay hydrated and lie in the hot water for at least 20 minutes.

Immune Boosting Detox Bath Salt for Adults

  •         1 cup of hymalayan pink salt
  •         2 cups of bicarbonate
  •         4 tablespoons of bentonite clay
  •         100 drops of lavender essential oil

Mix the above ingredients together and store in a sterilized jar. Gently sprinkle one cup of the mixture into a bath or a tub of hot water for a detoxing foot soak.

Alternative recipe for children (makes up 1 detox bath for kiddies)

  •         1/2 cup of epsom salts (if your kiddie weighs more that 27kg use 1 cup)
  •         2 tablespoons of bicarbonate
  •         2 tablespoons of bentonite clay
  •         3 drops of lavender essential oil

When climbing out of the bath, add 3 drops of ti-tree essential oil and 3 drops of lavender into a diffuser or burner and allow the scent to permeate the room while you go about your day or get ready for bed. Lavender is calming and reduces anxiety and stress, whereas ti-tree is a powerful immune booster. It has potent anti-bacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties.
